As we begin this new year, we celebrate yet another outstanding medical professional making impact in her community.
Blessing Eshiet is a medical doctor, medical writer, and serial entrepreneur. She earned her MBBCh from the University of Calabar in 2015 and is currently an Obstetrics and Gynaecology resident, combining frontline clinical practice with freelance medical writing and training in health systems, leadership, and management.
Her work spans clinical care, health communication, and social impact, sitting at the intersection of medicine, leadership, and innovation. With strengths in knowledge management, research synthesis, content writing, and visual storytelling, Dr. Eshiet translates complex clinical and health information into clear, accessible, and data-driven insights for diverse audiences.
She served as the immediate past Young Doctors’ Forum Coordinator of the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN-FCT) during the 2023–2025 biennium, where she mentored young doctors and coordinated projects, including community health outreaches focused on women’s and children’s health. She has contributed to program documentation, health education, and evidence-informed communication initiatives, including serving as Content Writing Lead for MomSafe (a social impact initiative of the Health and Wellbeing Cohort of the African Masterclass Series 4.0) in 2024, and writing for the Medicobridge patient information blog, a role she continues to hold.
Dr. Eshiet is the author of The Health Avantgardist, a LinkedIn newsletter exploring digital health, leadership, and innovation in African health systems. Driven by a strong commitment to equity, she is particularly passionate about improving health outcomes for women, which informed her decision to train as an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist. She believes that the thoughtful use of technology, storytelling, and evidence-based communication can help build more responsive and inclusive health systems.
