Job Summary

The Quality Control Laboratory Officer is responsible for conducting laboratory analyses and inspections to ensure that raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods meet established quality standards, regulatory requirements, and company specifications.
The role supports manufacturing operations by identifying quality issues, maintaining accurate laboratory records, and ensuring compliance with quality management systems and good laboratory practices.

Key Responsibilities

Perform physical, chemical, and microbiological tests on raw materials, packaging materials, in-process samples, and finished products according to approved procedures.
Conduct routine laboratory analyses using standard testing methods and laboratory equipment.
Record, Review, and interpret test results accurately and promptly.
Verify that products comply with internal specifications, customer requirements, and applicable regulatory standards.
Monitor production processes and provide timely feedback to production teams on quality-related issues.
Investigate non-conforming materials, out-of-specification (OOS) results, and customer complaints related to product quality.
Prepare and maintain laboratory documentation, including test records, certificates of analysis, and quality reports.
Ensure calibration, maintenance, and proper operation of laboratory equipment and instruments.
Maintain laboratory inventory, including reagents, consumables, and reference standards.
Adhere to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), health and safety procedures, and environmental regulations.
Participate in internal audits, external audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Assist in the development, review, and update of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and test methods.
Support implementation and maintenance of quality management systems such as ISO standards.

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Microbiology, Chemical Engineering, Food Science and Technology, or a related field, Masters’ Degree preferred.
8 – 10 years of relevant laboratory and Quality Control experience in a reputable manufacturing company is a must.
Experience with quality management systems and laboratory documentation.
Familiarity with applicable industry regulations and standards.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
Percentage of tests completed within specified turnaround times.
Number of out-of-specification results investigated and resolved.
Laboratory compliance with audit requirements.
Accuracy and completeness of laboratory records.
Equipment calibration and maintenance compliance rate.
Reduction in product defects and customer complaints.
Adherence to safety and regulatory requirements.

Salary
N500,000 monthly.
