Description

Job Description 

The Radiographer is responsible for operating medical imaging equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images that assist physicians in diagnosing and treating diseases or injuries.
Working within a multi-specialist hospital, the Radiographer ensures patient safety, applies correct imaging protocols, and maintains imaging equipment in line with regulatory and professional standards.
Key Responsibilities

Perform diagnostic imaging procedures including X-rays, CT scans, MRI scans, ultrasound, and other specialized imaging as required.
Prepare and position patients for imaging examinations, ensuring comfort and adherence to safety standards.
Operate imaging equipment in compliance with established protocols and radiation safety regulations.
Ensure accurate patient identification and proper documentation of imaging studies.
Work closely with radiologists to provide high-quality images for interpretation.
Maintain imaging equipment, perform quality checks, and report any faults or maintenance needs.
Monitor radiation exposure levels for patients, staff, and self, ensuring adherence to ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles.
Provide clear instructions to patients before, during, and after imaging procedures.
Collaborate with other medical professionals to coordinate patient care.
Maintain and update patient records in the hospital’s radiology information system (RIS) or picture archiving and communication system (PACS).
Participate in departmental quality control and assurance programs.
Keep up to date with technological advancements and best practices in radiography.
Assist in training and mentoring junior radiography staff and interns.
Adhere strictly to infection control, health, and safety protocols within the imaging department.
Participate in emergency imaging services for trauma or critical care cases.
Qualifications and Skills

Bachelor’s Degree in Radiography or Medical Imaging from a recognized institution.
Current practicing license from the Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria (RRBN).
Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience in a hospital setting.
Strong technical knowledge of imaging procedures and equipment handling.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and in emergency situations.
Proficiency with PACS, RIS, and other imaging management systems.
Work Conditions:

Primarily hospital-based with exposure to radiation and infectious materials.
May require shift duties, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
Salary
N300,000 – N400,000 / Month.
