Job Summary
The ideal candidate will provide strategic legal support to ensure compliance, manage transactions, and protect the interests of the organization in all legal matters.
You will be responsible for drafting and reviewing contracts, handling land documentation, managing disputes, and ensuring regulatory compliance within the real estate and agribusiness sectors.
Key Responsibilities
Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents including property sale agreements, lease contracts, partnership agreements, and MOUs.
Conduct due diligence on land titles, property ownership, and agricultural project compliance.
Handle and resolve disputes relating to land ownership, tenancy, compensation, and encroachment.
Represent the company in court, tribunals, and before regulatory or government bodies where necessary.
Ensure company compliance with all applicable property, environmental, and agricultural laws and regulations in Nigeria.
Liaise with regulatory authorities such as CAC, AGIS, Ministry of Lands, and agricultural agencies.
Monitor legal risks and provide proactive legal guidance to management and project teams.
Manage litigation and external counsel relationships effectively.
Stay up to date on changes in real estate and agricultural laws and provide periodic legal updates to management.
Requirements
Minimum of 5 years post-call experience in legal practice, with a strong focus on real estate and agriculture.
Demonstrated experience in land documentation, property law, commercial law, and regulatory compliance.
Familiarity with government procedures on land registration, C of O processing, and agricultural project approvals.
Strong negotiation, drafting, and litigation skills.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion.
