Role Overview
The Textile Designer will develop original fabric patterns, prints, and textures that reflect the brand’s identity—celebrating African textiles while appealing to global fashion standards.
This role involves conceptual design, research, and collaboration with production teams to bring unique fabrics to life.
Key Responsibilities
Research African textile traditions and reinterpret them in modern, sustainable designs.
Create original hand-drawn and digital artworks for fabric printing and weaving.
Work with the Creative Director and production team to ensure consistency in brand identity.
Prepare digital files, colourways, and print specifications for manufacturers.
Explore and propose eco-friendly materials and dye techniques aligned with sustainability goals.
Maintain a visual archive of prints, fabrics, and colour palettes for future collections.
Requirements
Strong creative portfolio showcasing fabric prints, surface design, or textile artwork.
Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or textile design software.
Knowledge of African fabrics (e.g., Aso-Oke, Ankara, Adire) and sustainable textile production.
Keen sense of colour, texture, and trend interpretation.
Strong attention to detail and ability to meet creative deadlines.
Preferred Skills:
Understanding of fabric production processes and colour management.
Interest in sustainable fashion practices and circular design.
