Here’s a closer look at his career, achievements, and ongoing contributions to the healthcare field.

Early Life and Education

Dr. Sunday John Alubo graduated from the University of Jos in February 2020 during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the disruption caused by the global health crisis, he managed to complete his medical degree and started his career in medicine with resilience and determination. He went on to complete his housemanship at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Makurdi in October 2021, where he further honed his skills in patient care and medical practice.

A Commitment to Service: Youth Service and Locum Work

In October 2021, Dr. Alubo started his NYSC in Bayelsa, where he had the privilege of serving at the General Hospital Brass, offering quality medical services to the local community. After completing his National Youth Service in October 2022, he transitioned into locum work with the Nigerian Police Medical Service in Makurdi and the Nigerian Army School of Metallurgical Engineering Health Centre, where he continued to contribute his expertise to various healthcare facilities.

Current Role: Registrar in Orthopaedics and Trauma

Today, Dr. Alubo serves as a Registrar in the Department of Orthopaedics and Trauma at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), where he is involved in providing top-notch care to patients with musculoskeletal and traumatic injuries. As a registrar, he plays an integral role in the training of future medical professionals, ensuring that they receive the best education and exposure to the field of orthopaedics.

Contributions to Healthcare and Community Outreach

Dr. Alubo’s commitment to improving healthcare extends beyond his clinical duties. His contributions include:

  • TSM Medical Outreach, December 2020: In Benue State, Dr. Alubo participated in this important outreach program, offering medical services to underserved communities.
  • Nembe Diaspora Sons and Daughters Outreach, 2022: He contributed to the Brass Local Government Area (LGA) in Bayelsa by providing much-needed healthcare services to the community.
  • NYSC Camp Doctor, October and November 2021: As a dedicated physician, he served as the Camp Doctor at Kaiama Medical Centre in Kolga LGA, Bayelsa, offering medical care to NYSC members.

Educator and Writer

Dr. Alubo also dedicates time to teaching and mentoring the next generation of medical professionals. He has been a coach/instructor for WACS (West African College of Surgeons) and National Surgery and Orthopaedics Primaries for over three years, helping aspiring surgeons achieve their goals.

In addition to his work in clinical medicine and education, Dr. Alubo is also a writer, contributing both short stories and scientific publications. His diverse interests in literature and science reflect his well-rounded approach to life and his desire to make a difference both in the medical world and beyond.
